Attacking and two footed,

Adriano stands out for versatility

Adriano joined Barça on 17 July,

2010 at the age of 25, after

playing for six seasons at Sevilla.

The Brazilian was Barça's second

summer signing of 2010

following the capture of David

Villa in June.

Adriano Correia Claro (26

October, 1984, Curitiba) signed a

four year contract with FC

Barcelona, with the option of a

further season and a 90 million

Euro buyout clause, on 17 July,

2010. He arrived from Sevilla,

where he had played from 2004

to 2010, although he had started

out playing futsal as a youngster

before first playing the 11 side

game for Brazilian outfit Coritiba,

where he debuted at the age of

18, a year and a half before he

moved to Andalusia.

Playing 157 games and scoring

11 league goals, the Brazilian

won an impressive number of

medals with Sevilla, picking up at

least one trophy in four of his six

seasons at the club. The only

trophies missing from his list of

honours were the league,

Champions League and the Club

World Cup.

Curiously, he played his last game

for Sevilla at the Camp Nou, on

May 19, 2010, the day the

Andalusians won the Copa del

Rey at the expense of Atlético

Madrid (2-0).

In his first season at Barça,

Adriano made 31 appearances

and was the first choice on the

left until injury kept him sidelined

for the remainder of the season.

He scored his first goal for his

new club on 2 February, 2011 at

Almería in the Copa del Rey semi-

final second leg.

He became a more regular part

of the team in the 2011/12

season, mainly due to a number

of injuries to key defenders. He

responded brilliantly, scoring

three goals in 40 games and

contributing to the conquests of

the Spanish Super Cup, European

Super Cup, Club World Cup and

the Copa del Rey. His finest hour

was his brace of goals in the

semi-final of the Club World Cup

against Al-Sadd.

In his third year with the first

team he maintained the excellent

form of his second season. He

played 34 games and scored six

times, his best contribution so

far. On 22 May, 2013 he

extended his contract until 2017

with a buyout clause of 90

million Euros.

Due to injuries to other players,

in 2013/14 he played a much

increased role in the side, often

being fielded as a centre back,

and made a total of 37

appearances and scored three

goals in the league and one more

in the cup.

In his fifth season at FCB, the

excellent form of Jordi Alba

meant he started most games on

the bench, eventually totally 27

appearances, 16 in the Liga, 7 in

the Champions League and 4 in

Copa del Rey. He scored two

goals in the latter.

Adriano also has international

experience. He was in the Brazil

team that won the U20 World

Cup in 2003 and the Copa

América in 2004.

Adriano Correia made his official

debut for the Club on 14 August

2010 in the Spain Super Cup

against Sevilla. The match ended

with a defeat for Barça (3-1).

TECHNICAL PROFILE

One of Adriano's great strengths

is his ability to play in a variety of

positions. His skill and forward

running are always to the fore

when he plays at either left or

right back and his attacking

instincts and hard work also

mean he can easily fill a number

of roles in midfield.
